FINANCIAL SECTOR REVIEW AND STRATEGY (2003)
As a subcontractor, EWMI’s expert led a team conducting this study to assist the Office of Emerging Markets (G/EGAD/EM, or EM) to define a strategy for its role in promoting financial sector development in transitioning countries. As a part of this, EWMI: (i) reviewed and summarized the status of reform of the international financial architecture, and identify the roles in reform played by major national and international bodies (e.g., IMF, World Bank, U.S. Treasury, etc.); (ii) reviewed the efforts of other domestic and international players; (iii) reviewed USAID’s financial sector activities to date; (iv) provided an assessment of EM’s Role; and (v) proposed options for G/EGAD/EM to consider as important roles and activities over the next ten years.
