On March 20, 2024, EWMI launched its new Advancing Comprehensive Anti-Corruption Reforms in Armenia program at a ceremony in Yerevan.  The new program is funded by the State Department’s International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Bureau and will help strengthen Armenia’s ability to prevent and fight corruption through increased transparency and accountability of governing institutions, as well as by enhancing public confidence in and perception of government anti-corruption efforts.  EWMI will work to strengthen the capacity of Armenia’s anti-corruption investigative, prosecutorial, and judicial institutions, as well as to establish stronger anti-corruption legislation and national policies, allowing Armenia’s government to prosecute corruption cases more effectively while adhering to applicable human rights standards. 

US Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien addressed the participants at the ceremony, stressing the importance of Armenia’s fight against corruption and the commitment of the United States to support Armenia’s efforts in this regard.  Leading Armenian justice sector officials also spoke at the ceremony, including Arman Dilanyan, Chairman of the Constitutional Court; Lilit Tadevosyan, Chairperson of the Cassation Court; Sasun Khachatryan, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee; Sergey Arakelyan, Rector of the Justice Academy; Srbuhi Galyan, Deputy Prosecutor General, Ara Mkrtchyan, Deputy Minister of Justice, and Arsen Ayvazyan, Deputy Chairman of Investigative Committee.  EWMI Vice President Nicolas Mansfield thanked INL for its generous support and outlined the key goals and objectives of the new program.
